Jeremiah was either dead or living somewhere else at this time. ============================================================== Jeremiah Walker fought with the North Carolina Continental Army as a Sergeant. He applied for a pension in 1834 and received approval on March 14, 1834 for $60 per year commencing on March 4, 1831. I suspect that Jeremiah was still alive in early 1834 and died sometime that year. His succession was probated in St. Landry Parish in 1835 and his properties were sold. A John Walker was the administrator of his succession.

Notes for JOHN WALKER: We don't know anything about John Walker except that a John Walker was the administrator of Jeremiah's succession in 1835. We also have a succession for the same John Walker who died in 1840. Thomas J. Walker was present at his succession property sale and purchased a few items during the sale. Thomas would have been about 18 years old. I believe this John Walker is the father of Thomas J. Walker. One fact that stands out in this assumption is that Thomas J. Walker named his first son John, according to the naming conventions used by most families of this period.

Notes for ISAAC WALKER: I believe Isaac Walker was a brother or uncle to Thomas Jefferson. A "Mrs. Isaac Walker" paid the Louisiana State Taxes in 1859 and must have been living with Thomas Jefferson at that time.

He married FRANCES WHITTINGTON February 27, 1841 in Bayou Chicot, Louisiana, daughter of JOHN WHITTINGTON and SARAH NELSON. She was born December 09, 1818 in Mississippi, and died in Bayou Chicot, Louisiana.

This is Thomas Jefferson Walker and family in the 1850 Census. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A document from the court records at Opelousas states "Tabulation of the estate of Thomas J. Walker and wife, both deceased...." was filed July 7, 1863. This document is written in English.
NOTE - Something is wrong with the 1863 document indicating that Thomas J. Walker's "wife is deceased". I have tax receipts showing Frances Walker as the payee as late as 1875 which presents another puzzle.
Thomas J. Walker's succession was not probated until December 15, 1871. The succession is written in French by the administrator Antoine Cart.
The 1863 document for the estate showed several debts, totaling $65.56. The 1871 document showed the same debts, but $27.00 in interest was added for 1863-1871 which brought the total to $92.55. The amount of debt was divided into two amounts of $46.27-1/2 each and both were assigned to Elizabeth Walker.
NOTE - Elizabeth Walker was not in my records as a daughter of Thomas J. Walker. The 1871 specifically indicates that the debt be divided between heirs and survivors by name ("heritiers and survivors by noms"). I found several sentences with mixed French and English. I believe it was easier to write the English word rather than the equivalent French words.

Oakdale, La., April 12, 1947 - Special Funeral for Mrs. Ruby Viola Walker, 54, of Bayou Chicot were held at the Calvary Baptist church of Chicot thursday, with the Rev. Leon Williamson officiating. Interment was in the Vandenburg cemetary under the direction of Hargrove Funeral Home of Oakdale. Surviving her are her husband, Robert R. Walker of Ville Platte; five sisters (sic) (daughters), Mrs. Albert Causey of Ville Platte; Miss Lois Walker of Ville Platte; Mrs. A. J. Spears of St. Landry; Mrs. J. W.
